Author Q&A

JENNIFER J. PRESCOTT

Question 1: What or who inspired you to be a writer?

Jennifer: I had an aunt that had bags and bags of books in her shed. She'd allow me to go through them and pick what I wanted to read. When I was done, I would return them and choose more. I'd sit for hours at a time. Some days, an entire day outside under a tree just reading to my heart’s content. Just the flow the of the words and the creativity was like magic. That is how it all began for me. That summer.

Question 2: What do you like most about writing?

Jennifer: It's therapeutic for me. I can escape reality and go to another world. Live another life or take an adventure.  I enjoy pushing myself to limits with creativity I didn't even know I had.

Question 3: What writing projects are you working on?

Jennifer: Right now, I'm working on a novella of mystery and suspense. Think of it as if Scoopy Doo and the Winchester brothers had joined forces against the witch of Hansel & Gretal. Just with a twist. I'm also taking notes for a sequel novella to Finding Trixie.

Question 4: What other writers would you compare your writing style to?

Jennifer: I don't compare myself to other writers. I feel each writer has their own uniqueness and individuality that should always be sought out and encouraged.

Question 5: What is your writing process?

Jennifer: My process is to write with a clear mind. Never forcing my writing. But to allow it to come to me. Also, to take notes at every given opportunity so when you are in the writing process you have it to fall back on.

Question 6: What's your favorite book of all time?

Jennifer: Ghost Horse by Janni Lee Simmer

The Cahill Witch Chronicles Series by Jessica Spotswood

Question 7: Who is your favorite writer and why?

Jennifer: Edgar Allan Poe in my eyes was the father of gothic literature.  You can't help but fall in love with his work. My all-time favorite is "A Dream Within A Dream." I absolutely love that poem.

Question 8: Where do you see your writing taking you in five years’ time?

Jennifer: My biggest dream is to become a household name. I don't want to be rich and famous. I just want my work to be noticed.

Question 9: Tell us a little something about yourself.

Jennifer: I have never allowed my unfortunate circumstances to define me. Nor did I allow them to deter my dreams. In which case that is why I see myself as fearless and impenetrable.

Question 10: If you weren’t a writer, what career would you have loved and why?

Jennifer: I have always wanted to be a nurse. Since the age of six. I use to have a " doctor barbie." She had a functioning stethoscope.  I didn't want her to be a doctor so I called her "nurse barbie" I took her every with me. Until one day the family dog got a hold of her and chewed her up. So I took my pencil box and gave her a proper funeral in the backyard.

Question 11: What one, key writing tip would you share?

Jennifer: I feel strongly about always writing from the heart. Write open and honest. Write for yourself, not for future potential audiences.

Question 12: What would you say to educate or inspire new writers?

Jennifer: I feel like the attitude you should always have in life is to never give up. No matter the situation nor circumstances... never give up. Believe in yourself and know that no dream is too small or too big to pursue.
