Bled Out

by Mark Simmons

When I saw the cover, I knew I had to read this book. Once I read the blurb I was hooked! I'm a huge fan of horror and thrillers.
I was gripped from start to end. It's a gritty read, I really hope there are more stories involving DCI Bambridge and DC Lawrence.
If you love dark, cat-and-mouse police thrillers, then you are going to love this book.
It's the first book I have read by Mark, I'll definitely read more by him.

I’m a huge fan of crime fiction and picked this because it seemed to be an interesting crime. I did feel like it was a bit of a Criminal Minds-esque crime but with officers who had a lot less resources to solve it. I liked both of the main officer characters and was desperate to see the case solved. I enjoyed the way the book played out and would certainly read more by this author in the future!

This book was like a great episode of a crime TV show in a book! But the kind of crime TV show you need to binge watch and go straight onto the next episode rather than waiting a week! I need the next book now!! It comes to a somewhat satisfying conclusion but there's still a lot of unanswered questions and things to further investigate that I'm guessing will be the premise of book 2 and I need to know! 😂
I loved the characters of both Lawrence and Bambridge, learning about their pasts, presents and how they work together. I didn't like the character of the killer, they were creepy as hell 😂 Excellently written though!
The murders were interesting too! I guessed what the link between the victims was but had no idea of the significance of it. Can't wait to read the next one and find out what happens next!

Bled Out is a book that has a cover that has a great shock factor. It did make me wonder what I had let myself in for, to be honest. Good job. I don't really have any triggers, eh?
I found it such a well-written thriller, not one for the faint-hearted, that's for sure. It was so vivid in the details that you can't help but picture the scenes Mark Simmons writes about.
I enjoyed getting to know Bambridge and Lawrence as this addictive story unfolded. They are very well-developed, and I could easily see them as real people with their flaws, too.
The twists and turns kept me wanting more until I really had to go to sleep. Don't worry, I picked it back up the next morning! A thriller that's definitely a 'just one more chapter' type of book!

This story was gripping. The writing was detailed enough to portray the gruesome element of hunting a serial killer, but not overly so that it made it unrealistic.

Mark Simmons did a great job when it comes to the pace of the story, it kept me wanting more and I found myself saying 'just one more chapter' a lot.

Both Bambridge and Lawrence make fantastic characters, they are both flawed and Mark did a great job in showing us their imperfections. I was unsure how they would work together as they appeared initially to be so different, but they came together when it mattered. As the story develops, we see that they are both troubled and have been impacted by something tragic.

I love it when I don't see the ending coming. I was gripped until the very end as the plot twists kept coming. This is my first read by Mark Simmons but I eagerly await the next DI Bambridge installment.
